Why should we clean an electric pressure cooker?
Just like how the electric pressure cookers help you cook varieties of delicious foods the easy way, this appliance also needs minimal work to clean and maintain it. It is very important that the food residues, oil stains or clogged pieces in the inner pot be removed to help the appliance function properly in the long run. Cleaning the inner pot well not only helps in the proper functioning of the electric pressure cooker but also helps get rid of the lingering smell after a cooking.
How to clean an automatic electric pressure cooker?
- Unplug the Electric Pressure Cooker: Do not try cleaning, wiping or washing the inner pot while the smart cooker is plugged to power. And do not start to clean immediately after a cooking is done. Switch pressure cooker to unlocked position, unplug, allow it to cool completely and then start to clean.
- Use wet and dry cloth: Start cleaning the electric pressure cooker with a wet cloth followed by a dry cloth. While the wet cloth helps remove stains or dirt on the surface, the dry cloth helps remove the moisture.
- Remove Inner Lid: The inner lid can be removed, soaked in warm water for a while and then wiped with a cloth or sponge to help remove food residues. The cover plate, sealing ring, floater and lid can be removed, cleaned and then fixed.
- Remove Inner Pot: Clean the inner pot with sponge/dry cloth/wet and dry wipes. Do not run it through water. If you happen to find burnt stains in the pot, uses drops of water with dish soap or a wet cloth and wipe it off.
How often should you clean?
Every time you finish cooking in an electric pressure cooker and every time before you begin to use it again for a cooking it is advisable to do a simple cleaning with a dry cloth. Deep cleaning time for the electric pressure cooker depends on how often you use the electric pressure cooker for cooking.
Regular Cleaning vs Deep Cleaning
Regular cleaning involves cleaning in the surface line while deep cleaning involves cleaning in depth cleaning that completely cleans the product and helps keep it germ free.

Note: Once cleaned and before you start cooking again, make sure the electric pressure cooker is completely dry and void of moisture.
