Karimeen (Pearl Spot) – 1 big
Shallots – 1 cup
Tomato – ½ chopped
Coconut Oil – 10 Tbsp
Banana Leaf – 1
Kashmiri Chilli Powder – 1 Tsp
Pepper Powder – 1 Tsp
Turmeric Powder – ½ Tsp
Salt to taste
Kashmiri Chilli Powder – 1 Tsp
Ginger Garlic Paste – 2 Tsp
Curry Leaves – 5 to 6 leaves
Coconut Oil – 1 Tbsp
Marinate the Fish with ingredients marked under Marination for 15 minutes
Connect the power cord to ROBOCOOK and switch ‘ON’ button. Press The Saute' Button in front dashboard and wait for 30 secs for the inner cooking pot to get heated up.
Add 2 Tbsp coconut oil & let it warm a bit. Then place the marianted fish inside the pot. Toss the fish to both its sides so that each side gets slightly roasted on both of the sides.
Then remove the Fish and keep aside.
Next add 1 Tbsp oil into the Cooking pot and add shallots. Continue in Saute mode for 4-5 minutes until the shallots becomes brown in colour.
Then add the ground mixture & tomato to this & give it a good stir. Continue in the Saute mode for 2-3 minutes. Remove this cooked mixture and keep aside.
Switch the Cooker to Keep warm mode.
Seperately lightly heat a banana leaf on stove top (This is done to make the leaf unbreakable and also gives a non-stick effect).
Then place half of the masala (cooked mixture that we had set aside earlier) on top of the heated banana leaf. Place the Fish on top of it and place a sprig of curry leaf. Top it with the rest of the masala. Fold in from all 4 sides. And make it into a packet, secure it tightly with a string.
Change the Cooker to Saute mode. Add 2 Tbsp Coconut oil and let it warm a little bit.
Place the Banana leaf packet into the Cooking pot.
Place the closing lid over the top, Turn and place the Pointer in ‘Close’ Position. Ensure the lid is firmly closed and Pressure release button should be on ‘DOWN’ Position.
Choose the Menu as Biryani with taste option as Quick.
Pre-Cooking will happen for few seconds and once the cooking is completed 3 Beep sounds will be heard and it will automatically switches to keep warm mode. Press ‘Cancel’ if not required.
Wait for 10 mins to get Natural Pressure Release (OR) it can be released manually by pulling ‘UP’ the pressure release button. Ensure the pressure is released completely on both the methods.
Switch to Saute mode. Add 1 Tbsp of Cococnut oil. Then turn the packet inside the Cooking pot. This is to ensure the Fish is cooked completely at both ends.
Choose the Menu as Biryani with taste option as Quick in the Cooker.
Pre-Cooking will happen for few seconds and once the cooking is completed 3 Beep sounds will be heard and it will automatically switches to keep warm mode. Press ‘Cancel’ if not required.

Open the Cooker and remove the packet. Open the packet & enjoy the very authentic Kerala style Karimeen pollichathu alone or with Rice.
