Ingredients:
For the gatte (gram flour dumplings)
Gram flour (besan) - 1 Cup
Ajwain (Carom seeds) – 1/2 tsp
Red Chilli powder – 1/4 tsp
Fennel seeds – 1 tsp
Curd (Dahi / Yogurt) – 2 tbsp
Baking soda – 1 pinch
Oil – 2 tbsp
Salt ,- 1/2 tsp
For Pulav:
Cooked/ boiled rice – 1 cup
Ghee – 2 tsbp
Ginger and garlic paste – 1 tbsp
Onion finely chopped – 1 big size
Turmeric powder – 1 tsp
Coriander powder – 1/2 tsp
Red Chilli powder – 1/4 tsp
Bay leaf – 2
Cloves – 3
Cumin seeds – 1tsp
Cinnamon Stick – 1 inch
Salt - 1 tsp
Coriander leaves chopped – 3 tsp
Steps :
- Take large bowl and combine all the ingredients for the gattas in a bowl – gram flour, carom seeds, fennel seeds, red chilli powder, salt, oil, curd and baking soda. Mix it well with using your hands.
- Next knead into a stiff dough using 2 tbsp of water. Divide the dough into 8 equal portions and shape each portion into a 200 mm. (8") long thin cylindrical roll. And keep it aside.
- Connect the power cord to ROBOCOOK and switch ‘ON’ button. Press the Saute Button in front dashboard and wait for 30 secs for the inner cooking pot to get heated up.
- Add 3 cups of water into inner cooking pot and wait for first boil. Drop all gattas in hot boiling water and boil for 3 min. Remove from water cut the gattas into 10 to 12 equal pieces or 1 minch pieces and keep aside.
- Clean the pot and press manual button and wait for one min to get heated. Add 1/2 cup oil into inner cooking pot.
- Once oil is hot drop all gattas into oil and deep-fry the gatta pieces till they turn light brown in colour from all the sides. Drain on an absorbent paper and keep aside.
- Remove extra oil and add ghee to the inner cooking pot on saute mode. Add cardamom, cloves, cumin seeds, bay leaves and sauté it for 30 seconds.
- Next add chopped onion, ginger garlic paste and saute for 2 min. Add coriander powder, red chilli powder, turmeric powder and mix it well. Add 2 tbsp water and stir cook for 2 min.
- Add the cooked rice, deep-fried gattas, salt, chopped coriander leaves and mix well.
- Close the lid and cook it for 3- 4 min on saute mode and stir it continuously. Once done switch it to keep warm or off mode.
- Serve hot gatta pulav with papad and raita.
