Ingredients:
Tamarind – 100g
Water – as required
Bengal Gram – 1 cup (washed & soaked for 2hrs)
Cinnamon – 5
Cloves – 6
Salt – As much you required
Ginger – 1 tbsp (finely chopped)
Curry Leaves – few
Coriander Leaves (chopped) – few
Green Chilly – 5 (chopped)
Oil – few
Mustard Seeds – 1/2 tbsp
Onion – 1 cup (chopped)
Tomato – 1/2 cup (chopped)
Red chilli powder – as required
Coriander powder – 1 tbsp
Turmeric Powder – 1/4th tbsp
Steps:
Mash the tamarind in the water as much as possible to extract the juice and pass through a filter. Keep aside the tamarind water.
Add Bengal gram, cinnamon, cloves, salt to a blender. Blend coarsely without adding water and transfer it into a bowl.
Add finely chopped ginger, curry leaves, chopped coriander leaves, finely chopped 2 green chilly to that dough and mix it with water. The dough must have good binding to make koftas.
Connect the power cord to ROBOCOOK and switch ‘ON’ button. Press the Saute Button in front dashboard and wait for 30 secs for the inner cooking pot to get heated up.
Add oil to the cooking pot and once hot drop the balls gently in hot oil and stir occasionally until the colour changes. Transfer this kofta balls into the tissue paper.
Clean the pot. Set in saute mode. Add 2tbsp oil, mustard seeds, chopped onions, chopped green chilly and saute for few minutes. Then add tomato, curry leaves and continue to saute till tomatoes become soft.
Next add required salt, red chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder and mix well to combine. After this add tamarind water. Close the lid without locking and cook it for few minutes.
Add earlier prepared kofta balls into that pot and mix well. Cook it for few minutes. Switch off robocook and close the lid for 5 minutes.
Finally, you can add ¼ cup of thick coconut milk to make it creamy and for added flavour. Let the koftas immerse in the gravy for at least 15 minutes before serving. Once cooked switch to off or keep warm mode
Dhal Kofta Curry is ready to serve with Rottis or Rice
